tropical layering

top, emoda. cami and skirt, vintage. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora ph (similar non-heeled). clutch, from a bag from aunt (possibly kohl's). bracelets/bangles, forever21.

Who says you can't layer in the tropics? When done right, like how I did here with a vintage cami and a reversible, flowy, dreamy top...it works fine. Yes. Yay! I'm finally learning how to layer? Yeah, I'm not so sure either. I still have a very long ways to go and a whole lot of things to learn where this goes.

For layering and everything else, a reversible top is always useful to have in the wardrobe such as this one from Emoda in Japan. It's a relatively old purchase but a goodie classic. It goes so well with a lot of those I own I also consider classics such as these ankle boots. The clutch back is currently showing a bit of wear here and there after I'd used it so much since around early 2016, I acquired it Christmas of 2015, and I like it that things like this get a lot of use before they have to be disposed in time to come.

....and the next two weeks will be busy for me. Well, just real life stuff I have to deal with. I probably won't be online a lot outside of browsing twitter at times through the fangirling twitter here an some instagramming here and there (yes, it's a verb now that we're in the era of everything sns/social networking sites...) so in short, I'm on very rare mushroom/pokemon mode from this point on.

Anyway, yes! Hanyu Yuzuru and Uno Shoma placed first and second respectively at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics' figure skating individual men's event! I am so, so happy for them especially Shoma as I'm a huge fan and he deserves this. Yuzuru, too, since this is his first skate after being out of figure skating for about 3 months thanks to injury he had to and still has to recover from. Well, did you keep tabs of the Winter Olympics this year too? Are you still following it and how is it for you?

I'll...uhmn...post music some other time. Just not now. I can't think of a good one...yet. Although Highlight's Yang Yoseob's new record just came out today and he's been busy promoting it everywhere in South Korea since. I admit I haven't checked it out yet nor do I feel like doing so. It might be because I'm still high on Winter Olympics 2018 figure skating men's euphoria...or I'm just feeling lazy or I'm not really just up for anything ballad-y...I don't really know. I'll likely post about this one next time.

blood red, cherry red

slipdress and blazer, vintage. clutch, ninewest. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora (similar). ribbon tri-strand choker, verano ph via zalora (similar).

Happy hearts day, y'all!

I'm settling down to music videos and stage performances by my favorite men/boys tonight. It's uhmn...well, more than my traditional Valentines' day tradition along with watching Da-iCE concert/s here and there to name one (or catching up to Kamen Rider Build as I left it off at episode 13 or so a couple nights ago...), it's an every night sort of thing since the MVs and stage performances are in a playlist on my windows media player. LOL. Anyway, I think this is the best way to cap the Hearts' day celebration with. I'm just missing organic/healthy dark chocolate eating somehow. The sad thing is that I don't have any of these at hand. Hmn...a strawberry zinfandel would be nice to have tonight, though, while on this MVs and stage performances marathon watching. I'm pretty sure I'll move on in a bit and play catch up with Kamen Rider Build and the kdrama, Radio Romance anyway. I've only finished 2 episodes of the latter. The reason I picked up said kdrama is thanks to Yoon Doo Joon from Highlight but that could have easily been very predictable as Highlight is my favorite kpop boygroup after Da-iCE from Japan.

For tonight, I have two tracks I love that are more about self-love and freedom than they are about dreamy romantic love:
I think these are perfect for winding down, chilling to tonight, especially when one has been out say, working or attending classes. AAA's MisaChia's MV for Jewel is cut short at 4 minutes or so but the whole track is beautiful on the Way of Glory album. It is, no doubt, my favorite so far from AAA after years of them volleying from multi-genre-d AAA to purely EDM AAA and back to being multi-genre.

I love, love, loooovee really positive, cheerful songs (Jpop has a lot of these but Kpop is catching up as well) and those especially about self-love. Really freeing bops are also my thing so Faky's Somewhere We'll Know is an eternal favorite where that goes. I'd also add E-girls' Kitakaze to Taiyou (The North Wind and the Sun) here but I sort of remember posting that one just a few days or a week ago or so, so I'm going to leave that out in this one this time. Such songs help keep my head above the water, cheer me up some and help me fake it when I feel like needing to fake it. I guess there's nothing like girl power where pop music goes. I'm usually more into the male idol group side of things: Da-iCE, Magic Prince, PrizmaX, Choutokkyuu/Bullettrain, Flowback, Infinite, Highlight and Golden Child but tonight I will let those men/boys rest and go with the girls since it's hearts' night anyway and I need a friendly reminder that I love myself more than I love those males in the idol groups I mentioned. Haha. Oh, and even music. Though usually it's music first for me over self. They can co-exist well together in my book though,if you catch my drift here. That's the beauty of the self and music.

sweater weather and messy hair

sweater, forever21. slipdress, urbanoutfitters. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora (similar). clutch, diy from a bag gifted by aunt.

Typhoon Basyang (local Philippine name thanks to PAG-ASA), please go away. I'm not exactly the biggest fan of sweater weather but it's here, we're here, at least until the typhoon goes away, that is. Needless to say, I spent it drinking a large mug of milk tea and some iced (decaf is usually all I can manage) coffee.

Today's music:
Something sunny to ward the gloominess of the day/night away. Golden Child has released two of the most solid mini-albums in the kpop industry so far. I'd recommend getting it if you can. Everything in the two mini-albums, from the bops to the mid-tempo tracks to the ballads are superb and flows so well from one track to another they're both just a treat to the ears. I've been playing both mini-albums on itunes on repeat as of late.

slick in all black

top, something borrowed via zalora ph (similar in the lightest of pink). quilted leather skirt, vintage. boots, rubi by cotton via zalora ph (similar). clutch, from a bag from an aunt...most likely a kohl's find.

The last time I brought out this leather skirt that's a vintage find, to wear out was when? Exactly. I don't remember either. Setting that one aside, I love how slick this one looks sans the dainty cute top from Something Borrowed.

I was out for half a day today for stuff including a trip to the dentist. ....and I'm not really a huge fan of dentists, to be honest.

Music of the day today, rather night since it's night time here already...:
I'm not a hero but I suppose we all could be, at some point. Tove Lo is love and with Alesso...enough said. I'm good. This is an oldie but a goodie and I go back to this from time to time whenever I feel like listening to a lot of western pop/dance music.

4-5 days until Valentines' Day, what do you guys have planned? Me? I'll be waiting for the 19th. Highlight's Yang Yoseob is releasing a mini-album/solo work by then. *insert all the hearts in the emoji keyboard here...*

cropped

photos 1-2: shortalls, cotton on. cropped top, susto the label via zalora ph. heels, zalora ph. bag, giani bernini via macy's. photos 3-4: top and skirt, forever21. clutch, ninewest. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora ph (similar but not really).

Tuesday and Wednesday's outfits in one post because the home didn't have any working internet connection until today. This usually happens when the months come with 31 days in them. And yes, a couple of cropped tops came out the past two days and they're fast becoming my favorites. The black version of the white forever21 top was worn with a slipdress to watch a local (Filipino) film, Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes (English trans.: The Two Mrs. Reyes) with the uncle in SM Premier here. It was a fun film and definitely has a whole lot of quotes to check out. It's one very quotable, very very fun film I can easily relate with because apparently, in real life, a lot of my crushes aren't at all straight. Haha. Well, life. It happens. I'll expand on that one on some other time I feel like doing so... (Count on me to never let this happen or come true. LOL. ....reason being, I'm a very private person...and I'd like to remain that way.)

Anyway, yes, I'm getting quite attached to the cropped silhouettes somehow. I'm looking to add more when I can. Susto the Label has a lot of them I like, no, more like, love that are quite on the affordable end. I haven't tired of stalking that page on Zalora yet. It's Krista speak for: Susto the Label is becoming a top favorite local brand for me. This, although the middle button of the top I got from them can't be locked in anymore because the the hole for it on the opposite side came loose... Hmn... I'll try to get it fixed some other time.

Today's music:
I've been addicted to this one for a long while now I usually have it on repeat on itunes. Hah. The music video is also so pretty I love it but sadly, Avex only uploaded the short version like they usually do for this group, among others (including their own groups, AAA and lol) so yes, it leaves us who aren't at all in Japan disappointed and hanging. E-girls is really more my aesthetic than AKB48 and their sister groups however I'm someone who's not so picky (although I may come across super picky sometimes) with pop music. I hardly really discriminate or learned not to discriminate so much where that goes and as such am one who can recognize good bops as they come my (out) way so I do recognize AKB48 tracks like Koisuru Fortune Cookie as such. It's just that, I'm more biased on the more normal, less really super cute female idoly, and the more fashion forward/modern, classy female and male idol groups. This actually explains why my fandoms are: Avex's AAA, Da-iCE, lol, SOLIDEMO, CREAM, etc.; Sony Japan's Flowback; LDH's E-girls (I think they're not called that anymore, though), Flower, Dream (they disbanded, insert crying emoji here), Happiness; for the South Korean side: Around Us Entertainment's Highlight; Woollim Entertainment's Infinite and Golden Child; and at times, Cube Entertainment's BtoB and Pentagon.

By the by, tonight, I'm currently listening to and drowning to Infinite's new full record/album, Top Seed and it's beautiful, from the first or opening track to the third. Tell Me and Synchronise are my top favorites from this one. I might just become a part-time Inspirit apart from already being a part-time Light and full-time a-I... Hmn...I'll think about this some more...

not really the first attempt at lingerie as daywear dressing...

top, hanky panky (similar). shorts/cutoffs, secondhand lowry's farm. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora (similar). belt, vintage. bracelet, lc lauren conrad.

Today's is lingerie as default being a hermit at home for a day, day-wear and the second day of wearing the same secondhand cutoffs. But when I do say second or third day of wearing (insert the name of the piece of clothing here), I mean I change into something else (usually, it's comfortable sleep wear, which I seem to have a lot of lately, or some other) between wearing the same thing two days in a row or so. It doesn't literally mean wearing the shorts the previous 24 hours I've done so. I have the habit of changing clothes 2-3 times a day, and into the night time...on a daily basis. I also have an obsession with lingerie dressing, yes. I try to even attempt it when the occasion calls for it when running some errands or lunching, dining out with friends... The  more comfortable they are, the better. From bed to brunch out is a thing here, yes.

turn up the static now, weather's getting hotter

silk shirt, vintage. shorts/cut-offs, secondhand lowry's farm. bag, giani bernini via macy's. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora (similar). bangles, vintage and dumaguete city souvenir shop. long leaf and arrow necklace, f21.

I meant to go for a black on black outfit today as it was pretty cool and cloudy this morning. When by noon, the sun ended up being at it's highest and clouds were nowhere in sight, I'd succumbed to the more comfortable silk shirt for a lazy take on the classic, crisp white button-up shirt and shorts/jeans/skirt look.

And yay! New headphones from Miniso in the recently opened (just this year...) SM Premier! I can't be a self-respecting audiophile without a good pair of these. Since I listen to a lot of dance (usually, pop) music, good pairs of headphones have become a necessity for me. My older ones from Urbanears had fallen apart just recently so a replacement was direly needed and this being more than half the price of the usual Urbanears (or even Sony's or Phillips' or Bose's or Sennheiser's among others, since I like those, too), is good enough. I'm not entirely sure if these are noise cancelling or the kind with the loud bass but it does give off good quality music from any device I attach it to so I'm good. 349 Php is a good deal for these already.

I'm usually alright with earphones as I used to use a lot of them growing up but headphones have been my go-to since going from being a fan of alternative (Brit/UK/Euro) rock to pop, deep house, tropical house music. The latter uses a lot of synthesizers and everything electronic so nothing beats headphones when listening to those in my downtime and when while in commute for some other.

Speaking of music, today's is:
I, once upon a time, put this on eternal repeat on itunes and on youtube. It's that addicting for something made just from the computer, the early days of Magic Man (circa first album). This duo somehow never fails to get me hooked onto a lot of the music they release. The second album might have been better with the rock vibe in it but I think the first album, Real Life Color, is more them, more Magic Man because, well, electro indie pop is their signature sound.

On other things: I'm currently following TVN's second season of Nest Escape. The kids are in Poland plus they have Produce 101 season 2's Kim Samuel as well as the child actress from Okja, a south korean film I've been meaning to watch. I'm no Samuel fan but I'm curious as to how he would get along with the other kids he's with and how he could be of help to them considering he's the most westernized (born in LA, California). Seeing his mum interact with him and the other parents on the show is also pretty fun.

indian summer hot end of the year holiday season

top, mixed berry dumaguete city. shortall, cotton on. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora (similar but not really). bag, ninewest. sunglasses, dad's.

This holiday season, we're experiencing a heatwave. This makes me want to spend most of it pool- or beach-side. I hope I get the chance to do so one day during the Christmas and New Year holidays...

I like the black, blue and red combination when it comes to dressing up. A pop of red always works for me when the daily outfit ends up looking pretty dull. What's even sweeter about this top is it's cropped but just by a bit.

What I currently have playing:
Hmn...this is weird...the music video would not show when I do a search on it on the attach video feature Blogger has. There's no problem when I look it up on Youtube's official site, however. ....and yes, I love my mannequins, RiRi and LuLa *insert heart-eyes emojis here*

for the weary and everything, I bring something cute and fun in the music section, yes. yay!

tank, bench ph. skirt, vintage. boots, rubi by cotton on (they're gusset boots long gone from last season or two but this is similar. bag, giani bernini (via macy's). cat ear ring & arrow necklace, f21.

It's been a crazy few weeks at home and out and thus the reason for not much updates since the 9th of this month or so. Personal and family life are insane right now. This, I won't go indepth with. I want to keep real life drama as far away from this escape pod/space of mine as much as I can to keep my sanity in check.

Anyway, a couple of things I've been playing non-stop via youtube:
Yes, I'm aware I've been blogging one too many things on kpop. I've been trying to avoid this one but in the end, I couldn't. Now, I find myself addicted to anything cute from Infinite (Man In Love is old being from 2013...), cute and sunny and cheery from their younger boy group siblings Golden Child (Sea fits the bill! I could lose myself in this for quite a long time...putting it on loop. lol.) and all things cute, positive and fun from Highlight as well as their really pretty ballads. I also like some of Infinite's Sunggyu's solos. I've been a casual Nell fan since stumbling on Ocean of Light from a favorite actor's trip to Hawaii music video thing. Nell is right up my alley as I am a fan of american bands with a similar vibe, OneRepublic and The Fray, as well as a lot of European (mostly UK?) alternative rock.

The past couple of weeks have been so crazy these two music videos or songs have been my respite from it. Gotta keep oneself sane and happy somehow with everything gloomy happening left and right. This is one of those times in life where I'm really thankful for being a kpop and jpop fan. Pop music is life and love! *insert heart everything/emojis here...*

As for everything Jpop: Da-iCE is releasing a single in January 2018 (yaaayyy!!! It's so close already!) and lol's Nanana is about to be released early next month. Avex Japan never fails to give me something to look forward to when the year comes to an end. This was the case last year and 2017 stayed pretty bright for me despite well, my personal issues here and there among others.

Also, AAA's New Year Party will be done jointly with Da-iCE this year. YEEEEEESSSSSSS!!! I'm PSYCHED FOR THIS! It's things like this that I'm still basically alive and breathing for~

On a rather different note (but still connected to j- and k-pop), Infinite's Man In Love is a reminder to myself that my sunny, cheery, fashionisto(?) type of guy is quite a very rare pokemon to find. I might as well marry a k- or j-pop male idol star...haha. I can only wish...

I'm not going to lie, I'm not really fond of the time when a year is about to come to a close. Something about it is always gloomy although ideally, it should be pretty festive. Also, fall and winter in places around the world with four seasons...ugh...nope. No, thank you.  I need sun 24/7, 365 days a year. This amoeba needs life under the sun to thrive or else dim things happen... (also, the hotter, the better. I can live, then. Haha.) Then again, I also need pools and the really beautiful beaches and island paradises like plants need water and sun so...yep.

americana...sort of

top and belt, vintage. shorts, aeropostale cutoff. boots, rubi by cotton on. wristlet/purse, coach. bangles/bracelets, forever21.

This is the third day this week I've worn this top. Some loved up thrifted finds are just comfortable for almost everyday wear, I guess. Also, plaids seem to be taking over my daily wardrobe. That, stripes and some select flowery dresses seem to be the only patterns I wear on a daily basis.

post-storm...literally.

tank, bench ph. shorts, secondhand lowry's. bag, vintage. boots, rubi by cotton on. bangles and cat ears ring, forever21.

It's been one week after another of intermittent all day rain and just all around gloomy, cloudy days thanks to typhoon Lan that hovered close to the Philippines' area of responsibility. It's course was different and soon moved away to Japan so there wasn't much damage (flooding, etc) much to all of our (here in the Ph islands) collective sighs of relief. Still, it's the wet season in this area so I'm expecting more typhoons coming our way. Hopefully, they just don't become as scarily devastating and damaging as category 5 ones similar to typhoon Haiyan way back in 2013.

Anyway, yes, sun! I miss this kind of cheery sunny day that makes me want to go to the beach and just be a bum or something else there...

I've currently taken to starting my day with streaming Highlight's Can Be Better MV from their official youtube channel. The 1theK upload is getting more attention but the official Highlight youtube channel one, I feel, needs more of the attention from us fans. Hmn...I don't even stream Da-iCE stuff much and this one has a Vevo account on youtube... Either way, both are fandoms I discretely belong to so that explains this portion of this post. Haha. Can Be Better by Highlight just is such a relaxing and fun song that it's great to start the day with it and with their Pls. Don't Be Sad, as well. Both just are now my happy pills and they tend to set the tone of the day for me nowadays. I'm falling deeper into the Highlight fandom, I suppose. Mostly, it's because of their music which is a 360 from their regular dark, all-about-heartbreak-and-everything-grim ones back when they were under Cube Entertainment as Beast. I like this 360 degree turn they took in the direction of their music and all. Like, I really, really like it to the point I'm in love with it. This is the same feeling I had when Da-iCE came out with their debut album as then-indie artists way back in 2011. Beast debuted earlier than Da-iCE, though...around 2009.

because it's fri...day the 13th

top and choker/necklace, forever21. shorts, secondhand lowry's. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora ph. bag, giani bernini via macy's.

Some things are meant to be had in twos...or in every color it is available in. Such is the case of the top here from f21 I got in black and white.

Meanwhile, something pretty exciting to look out for:
The snippets they released on this clip tells me the mini album is going to be good. It would be awesome if they chart high this year. They're the only kpop group I really follow nowadays anyway... Most of the time, I'm still more into jpop, western pop, and occasionally the really local, regional (Bisaya/Cebuano) pop.

And therefore follows that music of the day is:

Highlight of lol's recently released first full length album titled 'lolol' is this song, Hanauta (english translation: 'Flower Song' though it really gives more of a springtime vibe when the rest of the album screams 'summer!!!'). The music video for this is just so good. I've been hoping for the song to be released in a single or some other but it got released in a full length album so this one really made my year complete since. I still maintain then that lolol is still the summer (rather, lifetime?) album to have this year. Ah, why is it that summer jpop releases are frequently the best ever? I don't really know the answer to that either...haha. It's been the case since Da-iCE Paradive was released a year or two ago...

fairylike

dress, zara. boots, rubi by cotton on. bangles, from souvenir shop in dumaguete city and vintage. bag, kohl's (? I'm not sure...)

This Zara dress hasn't seen the light of day since I acquired it from the year end/season end sale around late 2015 to early 2016. This was basically two or three seasons ago. I've only taken it out of its hanger, from the rack with the most pieces I get most wear from on a daily basis, today. And I've just removed it's tag today as well. I know, really weird, right? I have the habit of keeping some pieces I get that I find I really like still tagged and left hanging on a rack in the bedroom until the mood and the occasion calls for me to get them out and finally wear them out with. I'm pretty sure I was able to get something else from that particular sale apart from this one but I forget what that was...hmn...

And in fandom news: there's only 5 days left until Highlight (the only male quintet kpop group I really stan where that part of pop is concerned...) releases Celebrate. Needless to say, I am pumped! I can't wait to listen to what this is going to be like. Highlight, since their period as Beast, has been delivering really well on the music front since time immemorial. Also, for the Jpop side of things, I've been obsessing with Da-iCE's 君色 (romaji: Kimi Iro) single/EP since last night. I love, love, loooove the b-side that is Fly Higher as much as I do the title track, 君色 (Kimi Iro). One is as good as the other. Yudai and Sota's solos are really, really good too. I rarely do get disappointed by any Da-iCE release. I'm finding lately that I rarely get disappointed by lol's releases as well. I suppose this is me getting used to anything Avex Japan, which is the main Japanese entertainment management agency I'm really into.

And so, until the next post, I leave you with this pretty, pretty (I'm not at all sure if I've attached this one to a previous post last month...it's taking me long nowadays to update this space with things for personal life/issues reasons...):

keeping the heat and humidity away sans the intermittent rains

tank, bench ph (similar). lace shorts, tally weijl. denim vest, old navy. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora. bag, kohl's.

A white tank or t is default wear when I'm at a loss as to how to style highly detailed bottoms. I'm currently thinking of stocking up on more basics from Bench...sometime soon, I guess.

Here in the Philippines, there are two giant clothing companies that are competing: Penshoppe and Bench. It's easy to spot chains of these two in malls and in small, quaint city centers. They are just everywhere here. When I was younger, say, around late grade school to early high school and with not much knowledge of fashion and styling I used to prefer Penshoppe. I noticed more people I came to know preferred Bench then so I'd go the other way and choose the one people don't pay much attention to which was Penshoppe. There's just so much fun in going the opposite way from what most people go to or for. But having grown older now and at the same time, growing to love basics more than the frivolous non-basics, I've grown to appreciate Bench more. Nowadays, Penshoppe does seem to get more of the notable faces in the fashion industry, however. I saw on instagram in passing last night that they were able to get Kaia Gerber---yes, that Cindy Crawford's daughter---to endorse them. This is when they've had Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and even Cara Delevigne among a few others as their pretty recent past faces or endorsers. I'm notorious for sticking with brands that aren't overly endorsed by such well-known people so as of the moment, I'm enjoying all the basics that Bench offers. I might be the only one though...I don't know. It doesn't matter. It's more fun this way.

for the unpredictable days

top, something borrowed via zalora (similar). suede skirt, vintage. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora. clutch, ninewest.

Daily weather has become unpredictable. One can never know when it'll rain and when it'll keep being sunny when here nowadays. Regardless of how cloudy it is almost everyday this latter half of the year, it's still pretty humid. It's still quite acceptable to dress up in mini skirts and sleeveless tops. And if the cold is too much to bear---in which case, it frequently isn't here in the tropical islands---then out come the sweaters and tights. I wore this skirt with light, see through black tights on my way to pick up a new-old cat a new-ish girl friend left me as she is in Spain right now. Those 24 Php tights sure are handy these days. I'll try to stock up on those more again. I might be almost out of those and I can never tell when I really need them anyway.

b & w

top, h&m. shorts, secondhand lowry's farm cut offs. bag, kohl's (apt. 9). boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora ph.

The top and the black denim cutoffs in black are both new additions to the wardrobe. The former is new from H&M in (Long Beach) California from an aunt while the latter is something new-old, rather, secondhand from a thrift shop I frequent---it's really just a block away from Silliman University---whenever I find myself in Dumaguete City.

I've been hunting down black denim cut-offs or jean shorts for a while now since losing a dressy plain (trouser-type?) shorts of the same color somewhere I've likely forgotten about long, long ago. I have the dressy black lace shorts but I frequently feel too dressed up in said pair so this is a welcome addition to the wardrobe this latter half of the year. This is definitely one of those I can wear with everything in the wardrobe with thus making the dressing up daily even more fun than usual. As for the top, I like the dressy, draped nature of it. It feels and looks low maintenance (no need to iron it!) to me and is alright to be worn with skirts, too, to any occasion. It is nearing the holidays so definitely, I'll be in this should I find the usual dresses I haven't replaced with anything new or something close, very repetitive. I was hoping the neck portion would go lower as a v-neck but it being not the case is actually alright, too.

finally back!

shorts, tally weijl. t, (probably soen, I'm not sure) from mom. bag, giani bernini. belt, vintage. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora (old). bangle, vintage.

Rainy/monsoon season is in here in the islands. We've been having afternoon rains on some days. The storms seem to skirt the lower part of the Visayas islands and the whole of the island of Mindanao whenever they come though, and instead, they would wreck havoc in Luzon. Proof of which is the news on parts of Luzon being flooded frequently. Temperature-wise, it's getting a little bit colder at night now. It is September, the first of the -ber months leading to Christmas month/season (December) and it's usually that way in terms of temperature changes at this time. So then, it's about time to layer up a little bit, I think? My idea of layering up this season is wearing the hoodies, the cardigans, and the tights. I might bust out the scarves here and there but I very rarely get into them as it's not common to see people wear them here so we shall see. The cold here is pretty tolerable and isn't as extreme as those with countries that experience 4 seasons yearly.

There isn't much to say about today's outfit pictured here except that the shirt seems best fit for the colder night we're having. I like it that I can still get away with wearing shorts, too, as the cold is tolerable here. The tights will probably be brought out and worn with the shorts over them however, should I go out in this tonight.

It's been eons since I did outfit of the day posts. I'm officially back to it. Hopefully, there won't be much hiatuses to follow but I can't really be sure either as things in life crop up unexpectedly and at the times when I least expect it. Then again, that's life in general. Anyway, things to look out for from this point on: clothing I've been keeping tagged and haven't worn since for this blog or elsewhere.

dusty rose

shorts, mags. button up silk shirt, vintage/thrifted. ankle boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora. bracelets/bangles, vintage & Dumaguete City souvenir shop.

View from room 309 of Bravo Hotel in Sibulan which is a few minutes away from Dumaguete City. Dumaguete City photo diary should be coming up in a few and yes, I was just there---after a good two years of not being able to go for a visit---from the 16th until the 20th of August which is just, well, recent.

sometimes i get stumped at styling certain pieces too

tank, tally weijl. skirt, vintage. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora ph. bag, gifted by aunt. bangles, vintage & Dumaguete City souvenir shop.

One reason why I avoid printed and varied colored clothing pieces is because I'm usually at a loss on how to style them. This tank has been posted about on this blog once because of exactly that. Thanks to the numerous black skirts I've accumulated over the years of thrifting and non-thrifting, I'm not as stumped anymore on how to style something like this. Ah! Separates (in mostly neutral shades)! They really are a lifesaver to have when one needs a certain, not-so versatile piece to style in a way that's not too over the top. I don't really style a printed top with a printed bottom unless both are of the same print or design. But one day, who knows? I might just break that one set rule of mine. I've known myself over the years to break and/or bend rules to suit my mood/liking at times...especially when it comes to personal style/fashion.

....and a new find from a couple nights ago or so for today's music recommendation:
I've made a new playlist on the itunes that contains indie and mainstream pop, indietronica, indie synthed rock, some house music and named it accordingly. But because it's mainly comprised of tracks I find and end up being obsessed with for a certain time, I'm currently contemplating renaming it as "(my personal) obsessions". But I probably wouldn't. I'll think of something else to fit it... Err...now you know what kind of music I listen to when it comes to everything western music and some local (although I didn't include anything local on the playlist seeing as so few of them fit the style of the ones in this one...). Not even going to lie, I could put this playlist I made on eternal repeat or loop and I wouldn't tire of listening to its contents regardless of them, the contents, being a mess of sorts. The tracks in it can be classified as multi-genre-d that it has proven difficult to classify and divide them into the correct sub genres. All I know is their main umbrella genre is pop. Surprisingly the playlist doesn't sound too disjointed when transitioning from one track to the next. Usually, a mixed genre playlist gives off that vibe especially if everything in it is, well, random. If I focused more on mainstream pop than dividing my time between checking on that and the vast world of (mostly undiscovered?) indie pop, I don't think this would have been the case of playlist making... It's nice to have variety in music even if its mostly pop in the library. I'm looking forward to adding more to the playlist as I go on and try to discover---I do this by looking into the contents of playlists of different kinds (though I often linger in the deep house, tropical house and indie pop ones...) posted on youtube mostly---more music from indie artists and mainstream ones alike, local or not.

DIY Monday: tie dyed tank from a t

tank, a t turned (diy-ed) tank gifted by an aunt. cutoffs, gap. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora ph. backpack, gucci (thrifted/vintage and most probably authentic). bangle, vintage.

Beginning Saturday night, last weekend, I was bitten by the DIY bug after puzzling over how I owned one too many t-shirts from random events (like benefit walks, family events and more...) and not enough tanks and such to keep the daily humidity and heat at bay. This shirt which is really cozy, by the way, was one of the many I'd ended up cutting, sewing a tiny bit and customizing to the length and cut of my liking. There are a few others that met my scissoring and mediocre, at best, skill of running and/or back stitching. There are also still a few others I haven't decided what to do with yet but I'll eventually get to customizing them with the scissors, as well as the needle and thread. ....maybe later.
I would have liked this t a bit more destroyed and the print faded in the pretty vintage-y way but this will do for now. It might reach that through more washes. At least, to me, it's so much more wearable now for the day and sleeping in. I like clothing that's perfect for both and tanks, cropped and not, are that for me even though I like ts as much.

I'm currently in the process of making braided headbands from the excess t fabric to gift this year to girl friends and more.

DIY Mondays should be a thing, no? Well, then, just occasionally as I don't really DIY stuff as much.
