sid and aya

reversible top, emoda (Japan). hoodie, slipdress and bag, all vintage. ankle boots, something borrowed via zalora (similar). ribbon choker, verano via zalora.

What I wore to today's movie date with the cousin who's starting college now in the home city. We watched the local film, Sid and Aya with Anne Curtis-Smith and it was uh...mazing. I mean, it was amazing. It speaks to me a lot, especially Anne's character, Aya. If you have yet to see it, go and do see it! The local SM cinema we went to has subtitles for it in English for those who cannot understand films in the local Filipino language. Sid and Aya has been nominated in the New York Asian Film Festival along with another movie from Anne that's about to drop later as well so it's worth the watch. This was a 390 Php well-spent for me since I treated my cousin to it (195 Php a movie ticket per person).

Dropping by the newly opened Chingkeetea---Kagay-anons' favorite hang out for milk tea everything---branch in Gaerlan-Velez Sts. was also mandatory. The place was crowded when we got there but we got seated somewhere cool so it was okay. The white background where we were allowed us to do selfies and the likes which was the funnest way to end the day...well...night as reason being we got home around 7 in the evening just in time for a quick dinner. Apart from the awesome movie I got to see, I discovered a new favorite milk tea drink from Chinkeetea: Classic Thai. I usually prefer their classic milk tea with 50% sweetness but Classic Thai, pictured here, is just another kind of awesome I'm elevating to addiction status. Will definitely go back there and hang out more with the cousin and a few other people.

In case y'guys are wondering what I have been up to lately because of the lack of posts...it's mostly work. I've just started one and well, I won't divulge much details about it because it's just a daily boring kind of work in line with my original profession. Well, it is a tad bit fun for me, though. At times, anyway. Also, I seriously need a new laptop or computer (as well as a better quality camera...err...yes...), too, hence this job is something that might help me with that.

Highlight's Plz. Don't Be Sad and Can Be Better are currently helping me get through everyday at work so I'm all good...so far. Also, a lot of Pentagon's music. Yep, I'm settled...I think. I'll continue to post here as much as possible however...yes. I'll try my best to keep this one alive somehow.

tropical layering

top, emoda. cami and skirt, vintage. boots, rubi by cotton on via zalora ph (similar non-heeled). clutch, from a bag from aunt (possibly kohl's). bracelets/bangles, forever21.

Who says you can't layer in the tropics? When done right, like how I did here with a vintage cami and a reversible, flowy, dreamy top...it works fine. Yes. Yay! I'm finally learning how to layer? Yeah, I'm not so sure either. I still have a very long ways to go and a whole lot of things to learn where this goes.

For layering and everything else, a reversible top is always useful to have in the wardrobe such as this one from Emoda in Japan. It's a relatively old purchase but a goodie classic. It goes so well with a lot of those I own I also consider classics such as these ankle boots. The clutch back is currently showing a bit of wear here and there after I'd used it so much since around early 2016, I acquired it Christmas of 2015, and I like it that things like this get a lot of use before they have to be disposed in time to come.

....and the next two weeks will be busy for me. Well, just real life stuff I have to deal with. I probably won't be online a lot outside of browsing twitter at times through the fangirling twitter here an some instagramming here and there (yes, it's a verb now that we're in the era of everything sns/social networking sites...) so in short, I'm on very rare mushroom/pokemon mode from this point on.

Anyway, yes! Hanyu Yuzuru and Uno Shoma placed first and second respectively at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics' figure skating individual men's event! I am so, so happy for them especially Shoma as I'm a huge fan and he deserves this. Yuzuru, too, since this is his first skate after being out of figure skating for about 3 months thanks to injury he had to and still has to recover from. Well, did you keep tabs of the Winter Olympics this year too? Are you still following it and how is it for you?

I'll...uhmn...post music some other time. Just not now. I can't think of a good one...yet. Although Highlight's Yang Yoseob's new record just came out today and he's been busy promoting it everywhere in South Korea since. I admit I haven't checked it out yet nor do I feel like doing so. It might be because I'm still high on Winter Olympics 2018 figure skating men's euphoria...or I'm just feeling lazy or I'm not really just up for anything ballad-y...I don't really know. I'll likely post about this one next time.

faux one-piece

slipdress, vintage. top, emoda. wedges, primadonna ph. bag, ninewest.

However way it looks---whether a dreamy, layered one-piece or a two-piece---this is actually a two-piece dress ensemble masquerading as a one piece dress. The slipdress is the favorite palest of yellow vintage piece with lace details. It's established fact that I'm a notorious serial repeater when it comes to wardrobe favorites. The reversible, or it looks like it is that reversible anyway, top is from Emoda (my default favorite Japanese brand for their love of functional basics, this is always integral in me deciding which brands to love or patronize or whatsoever). When both are put together, the result is something fantastically hazy, Lula magazine pages-worthy faux one-piece floaty dress.

Speaking of fashion magazines, it's devastating to find out recently that Nylon (US) magazine is halting production of their monthly printed versions. Nylon US is reportedly going to focus on their digital content from now on. There's always the Japanese and probably even the Singaporean and Korean Nylon but nothing beats Nylon US which I have a good collection of from the local Booksale (secondhand books and magazines, etc.) and from the US airports/magazine stands whenever I find myself there which is really rarely. Now...how am I going to find American indie music, indie and good mainstream film, and miscellaneous but good books suggestions from now on? Nylon used to be my fix for those...apart from fashion news, that is. Also, some weird, really random story, I follow Nylon on twitter, right? The one running the account during the Emmy's was cheering loudly for Big Little Lies early this week...it was imperative I retweeted said BLL cheering tweets as I was as much a Big Little Lies fan as that one was or is.

2017 and stuff on my mind today...

 (via @EMODA_STAFF)

2017 is starting out cold for even us that are a few meters or so from the equator. We've had a succession of two low pressure areas at the beginning of the new year hence these things from Emoda, Murua and Dazzlin---a.k.a. some Japanese clothing brands I'm really liking much---being on my mind as of this time. I have something similar to the fuzzy things on here that's vintage I have been wearing alternately with another old fuzzy knit in and out of the home as of late. I'll see about documenting them soon as I am back to regular blog post programming after a mighty long vacation of just lazying around...somehow.

What I would give to be in Japan on off-season clothing sale right now that Runway-Webstore is having among others... I can only wish...for now. Well, there is always the option of just gawking on the items they have there occasionally, though.

something kitschy fairy this way comes

(my photos)

Emoda reversible top (purchase a couple years ago or so on sale); reworked vintage bodycon dress with fern pattern; Daiso (from a bff now based in Davao City) flower-patterned footless/stirrup tights; vintage, f21, random souvenir shops and some aizilim bangles/bracelets; aizilim necklaces; Idk where I got them rings; Primadonna heels

Indoor shots because it was threatening to rain outside. Pardon the messy background. Think of it rather as me shooting in some decrepit, desolate, trashy location elsewhere outside, haha. That's how messy and random the second, where my bedroom can be found, floor of the house is.

I've had this Emoda top since forever (say, maybe last year or so? or two years ago?) and still tagged. Well, I finally found use for it and finally cut off the tag off it. It'll see more use later, I suppose as I do have some slips somewhere that could be livened or spiced up by this one. Looks like this reversible floaty top is finally getting some use. I'll even think about packing it with me to the next travel adventure I may be going to...I'm not sure yet. It certainly does fit the beach setting somehow, in the late afternoon. I'll probably even use it to a festivity...sometime...soon. We'll see...

I know I still have a few other things still tagged in the wardrobe that haven't seen the moonlight or the light of day rather. It takes me eons to figure out how to use those things exactly and what occasion to bring them out for but yeah, this does save me from having to shop around a lot and reign in the shopaholic tendencies---though I'd deny having it anyway. Ah...yes...Daiso...sometimes the three branches we have here have the most intriguing, cutest things around just waiting to be bought. I might've already littered my room with a lot of things from the Daiso branches I visit from time to time...a couple of them being a silver skull decor thing I use as a tealight candle holder---it is absurdly useful when it's earth hour and when there's no lights or electricity at all---and a pair of fun-looking, really cute Hello Kitty earbuds/earphones. That store along with 7/11 convenience stores now prompt me to stock up on a lot of their transparent rain umbrellas like those in Japan. I'm...pretty sure I have a few other random trivial/intriguingly weird things from there. I'm a random, weird shopper and all so, yeah. Figures.

dreamlike

The fun thing about working from home is I get to play dress-up on some days I get tired of writing and writing and thinking whatever else to write about. Such is the case with this one.

I've had the top along with another dreamy, wispy 2-way top from the Japanese brand, Emoda since around December last year, if I recall correctly. I acquired both by way of Runway-Webstore. Both were purchased around July. Emoda is basically black and white basics and dreamy, wispy heaven. I have yet to find events to wear them in so I settled for trying one of them out this afternoon in between writing tasks with a deadline tonight (*gasp* I hope I finish it on time!). The best way this one is probably worn out in is with the lacy bustier-y bra top from WAGW I got a year ago or so. It was a lucky find and quite useful even when just lounging around---no wire, no padding whatsoever. Just oh, so utterly comfortable. Shorts aren't so noticeable but they are there.

new additions

Hmn...can't wait for these to come in the mail though it may take two weeks or so. Emoda = wispy basics heaven.

Next stop: this. But that is if I'd have enough to spare for it by the end of this month or the 15th of next month...unless it's put on sale...again, like these two.
