It's now less than 30 minutes 'til the 9.9 sale across all shopping apps, Philippines' time and these are all I have in my to get tonight:

I just got this one in ash blue recently and I think the dusty blue will fit my trip to Metro Manila and beyond (Taiwan) some time later this week.

As someone who's always on the go when in the metro up north and even when abroad, this skorts is a lifesaver for me. Bonus that it sits low waist or mid waist just the way I like my bottoms to do so.

This mayhaps be my favorite set from this shop so far. It's comfy to move in and all. I'll look into other things there soonish. Idk yet.

It's only available in gray now. I don't mind skirts and tops in gray, the only thing I hardly wear now is black unless it's night time and I'm having dinner out with people, the aunt, family, etc.

I already have my brown skirt similar to this I thrifted last year ish and I'm taking that one along with me to Metro Manila as per usual, along with other things... but I also don't mind getting this one to interchange with that one from time to time.

If you remember Essentiel Manila PH was my go-to for sets to wear at home during the pandemic. It's still my go-to until now if I find stuff that are around medium to large in size like this one. Some of the stuff they sell just really fit me and my lifestyle.

I dunno, I'm not sure yet if I'm getting this one. We'll see...hmn...

This is honestly more of a need than a want because I'm packing somewhat light for this trip and do not really want to bother with some personal stuff so should I order this one tonight with any of the two above, I'll be having it sent to the fam's new place in Katipunan, Quezon City directly. I've already had some of items delivered there, well...just one for now but the rest are in ML Katipunan, waiting for me to claim them so there's that.

*****

Anyway, happy shopping to those who are checking out stuff from their carts tonight!

I'm not entirely sure if I'm checking out some yet outside of the deo bar in this list...

*****

I'm only going to be in Metro Manila for about 3-4 days of this trip. The 5 days between those will be spent in Taiwan with my aunt.

I'm definitely going all out with the packing the remainder of the week before flying out there. I'm also ordering some things we'll need at the condo or mostly things I'll need, idk yet. I can surely share them with my aunt so there's that. I've ordered some food like adlai (a rice substitue) too so...yep, there's that as well. This is for when we don't feel like going out to eat at U.P. Town Center, maybe the U.P. grounds or wherever near the fam's new place there, in Katipunan, Quezon City

I already have my checklist on what to pack for this trip but I feel like I'll end up overpacking...we'll see. Hmn... I did thrift a lot of what I will be bringing with me...definitely watch out for a post on this on my instagram or youtube shorts later this week. Random spoilers/things to look out for: there are about 1-2 athleisure and sleep shorts, 3 capri pants there, 2 dresses (I'm not sure yet if one will fit, it's a medium but I think it will...we'll see...), and mostly tank tops. Haha. Hmn...I'll probably even do a random try on one of these days for this one so wait for it...see you when I see you on that post!

And so...I'm out of here for the night. The Stitch it by J and C post is still coming right up. I'm still gathering some material for it...yet, anyway. In the meantime, I have other things, packing, cleaning and arranging my room, decluttering I'm keeping myself busy with until the date I'll be flying out to Metro Manila with my aunt later this week. I'm hyped and pumped for it. Srsly.

This is a  late post of the week-long plus Metro Manila trip between May 12 and around May 20 this year. I know, I know. If you want the real-er time update on this one, you can check out the personal public 'gram. I posted photos and some video clip snippets of this trip on there in my feed. Actually, I made like, maybe 3 sets of posts for this whole trip there that's written, arranged like a photo and video clip diary of sorts...in 3 parts.

Outfits wise...let's focus on the fact I did not pack a lot during this trip but I did pack only the ones I knew I'd get the most use out of. I basically lived on a capsule wardrobe here with just 1 pair of sneakers. Lol. I like to vary my footwear most times but this was one trip I hardly did this in and I'm changing that up in the upcoming Metro Manila, overseas but still around South East Asia, back to Metro Manila trip in a few weeks...in 2 weeks or 3, to be exact. You'll find in this post that I have a lot of items in my packing cubes I kept repeat wearing or I wore at least 2 times maximum. Lol.

I didn't pack a lot of clothes, an extra pair or 2 of shoes, and maybe an additional 2-3 bags for this trip like I normally would for week+ -long trips because I was mostly there to work on stuff (the family's new place in Katipunan, Quezon City) and I didn't really think I'd be spending hours to a whole day with some friends there. I did have 1 event in my mind I went to with a good friend so I did pack some fancy clothes for that one, some, but I still ended up dressing minimally for it. Lol.

Most other that made the bulk of my luggage was the toiletries, cosmetics, self-care stuff. I refused to buy a lot of these in Metro Manila for some reason so I brought those I bought from here in advance instead. Lol. I only had 1 checked in baggage so far for this trip and I used it for just going to Metro Manila. Going back, I packed the stuff to check in into my dad's checked in luggage instead since he came in from a brief international trip.

Let's...maybe see what things were the most used in my luggage for this trip at the end of this post. Let's also see some new addition to the capsule wardrobe I got while I was in Metro Manila because I needed them then and I still pretty much make use of them now that I'm back here in Cagayan de Oro City, my home city...for the time being anyways.

*****

First day in was around Sunday morning. Very early Sunday morning I didn't get enough sleep the night before. I almost got late for the flight into Metro Manila because I thought mine was still around 8 a.m. and I got busy cleaning up my room while I packed. Multi-tasking galore, yes.

I begrudgingly downloaded the Grab app on my phone and took the Grab car to my uncle's place in Caloocan City from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport...Terminal 2, I think? I took the Philippine Airlines flight/s...and the fare for that cost me 1000+ Php. Seriously. Transport is expensive around the metro. Not surprising at all.

Didn't do much on the first day, I just caught up on some sleep at my grand uncle's couch and then I and an uncle very briefly met with my dad the day after, Monday, at the family's new place.

The third and fourth days, Tuesday and Wednesday, of this week-long trip were for going around the Mall of Asia and Ikea Philippines. My uncle's place is in Caloocan City so I took the LRT 1 from 5th Avenue to the EDSA station and a jeepney to get to these two. Here is my going around Ikea PH those 2 days and some of the night of the 3rd day:

Of course, there're a couple gratuitous snaps of Ikea plushies here just because... I think I may be getting back into them these days. I used to have a large collection of these back when I was a kid, a toddler or so. I'll probably get 1 next time I'm back there maybe in the next 2 or 3 weeks, we'll see...

You can tell the white tshirt here got lots of use for this trip. White tshirt and a pair of denim shorts/cut offs have been uniform for me since...hmn...the 2010s? 2000s? This formula has never failed me in looking casual, effortless since then 'til now. It's right up there with an oversized tshirt or white tshirt, especially, and a pair of leggings or a pair of bike shorts. The latter is something I wear more often especially when I know I'm going to always be on the go for a whole day of activities anyway.

Outfit details for this one:

Levis cut-offs/shorts: @thrifterstyle on instagram

White tshirt: SoEn PH White TShirt (Vneck) via Shopee PH // SoEn PH White Tshirt (Round Neck) via Shopee PH

Shoes/sneakers: Asics in royal blue from a Marshalls in NorCal from 2 years ago or 3

Note on the shoes: I don't why I'm not finding locally made shoes in this color or yellow since those two colors seem to be the ones I gravitate to lately. I get there's a lot of Navy but it's a boring neutral color that jives with the rest in my closet and it'd be good to just have a pop of color somehow here and there in the form of sneakers now and then now. ....if that makes any sense. Anyway, these are comfortable so they're good to wear everywhere you're doing a lot of walking in like in Ikea PH and in the much more massive Mall of Asia the former is annexed to.

The SoEn tshirt is probably the softest I've got in my closet along with some made in the Philippines Bench TM soft tees which I have, I just discovered, two of: one in white, another in charcoal or dark gray. But if you're into 100% cotton shirts that are a classic like I am, too, these are the better alternatives I'm thinking of stocking up rn, maybe when I make it back to Metro Manila in two or three weeks:

Fruit of the Loom (FotL) Round Neck White Ts in 3s via Cotton House NCR on Shopee PH

Hanes 3 pcs Classic Crew Neck T-shirts via Cotton House NCR on Shopee PH // 3 pcs Hanes Round Neck 100% Cotton T-Shirt White via Cotton House NCR on Shopee PH

You can also shop Fruit of the Loom shirts at their main store in this orange shopping app but I like Cotton House NCR (Shopee PH)'s stuff since the pandemic starting with their cotton masks so they're my go-to for anything cotton. Their prices on these tshirts in packs of 3s seem fairly priced for me, too, as well as their Hanes underwear/panties that I'm eyeing to wear with the SoEn stuff in between and I'm considering stocking up on these when in Metro Manila in 3 weeks or so, on my birthday week.

After those 2-3 days of staying at my grand uncle's, uncle's in Caloocan City, I spent the next 2-3 days in the family's new place as I dropped off some things I furnished it with per my dad's instructions. It's a convenient spot in Metro Manila to be in because the big universities are very close there, both Ateneo de Manila and the University of the Philippines, Dilliman Campus. Basically this is Katipunan, Quezon City. My girl friends, new and old, are also in the same area so being here works for me whenever I'm there to spend some time with them when I can.

Needless to say, main highlights of this trip with me was meeting a new friend off of Twitter/X and Plurk in the U.P. Town Center and hanging out with an old friend, just having bobba/milk tea with her after lunch and well into dinner time Friday that week. Then Saturday was spent on checking out a pop up event of curated vintage instagram shops like Threadful Club in Makati's G Studios with another really good friend who's into sustainability, healthy (vegan) eating/diet, and environmentalism like yours truly. This one was fun. We only got accessories from Beads Table (they're now accepting online orders of their customized jewelry, by the way!). They customize necklaces, chokers, bracelets, anklets and you get to choose the charms to put in them, the type of chain you want used and more which is really cool. I chose to go with the sea/beach-theme with the charms, as per usual. Oh and we also had matcha with oatmilk from the drinks vendor they had there, Matcha Mama PH. It's always a plus, really good to have something to drink while browsing through racks of clothes, bags, shoes, belts and more at pop ups like this, thrift stores and more, of course!

Again, the white tshirt and Levis denim cut offs/shorts from ThrifterStyle on instagram is in full use here. Again. I had to type down again 2x just because... I wasn't kidding when I said I had some 2 pieces in my suitcase/bag I wore a lot of times in the week plus I was in Metro Manila, yep.

My go-to bag is this Kipling sling bag that housed my daily essentials gifted to me by a grand aunt in the dad's side from that US trip 2 years ago (2022-2023). I totally got sick of said bag and shoes during this trip but well...they were all I had packed so yep, I have no choice but to make good use of them at this time.

The closest I can find to this bag here in the locale is this:

It's the most similar in the site I could find in both structure and style and/or design.

After this one and before getting lost again around malls in Makati on our way to Trinoma and SM North EDSA, we had dinner at the Green Bar Cafe. It's a vegan cafe/restaurant and is in the same area as G Studios where the curated vintage stores and more pop up took place.

I definitely got addicted to their kopi roti or coffee bun the day after this one because I finished both of it when I got home here in Cagayan de Oro City after a delay in our flight back home here. Lol. I'd probably go back to this restaurant/cafe when I can just to get this bread from there.

I spent maybe a total of 7-8 days in Metro Manila and I did not come home empty handed. Here are some things I got while I was there:

The first that came home with me is this pair of very cozy, lounge-y linen pants from Penshoppe PH I hunted down when I found some of it on sale in Mall of Asia on my first day and night there (in MOA and Ikea PH, not in Metro Manila). It's perfect for summer and the heat in Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines including here at home in Cagayan de Oro City.

It took me 2 different Penshoppe PH stores/branches to get me this one in my size (large now) between the Mall of Asia one and the SM City Makati one. They only had this in small, medium, and extra large in MOA/the Mall of Asia when I first found it on sale there for Php 599 (about 10-11 USD converted).

Of course, you won't find me wearing this one when I'm on my period. Lol.

This is likely out of stock now since Penshoppe PH here in Cagayan de Oro City/CDO/CdeO has also changed stocks since but here are some similar ones from the same shop online still up (that I'm also considering getting when I can, I'm not sure yet, we'll see):

Penshoppe Straight Fit Linen Trousers for Women (Off White/Old Rose) [Long Pants] via Penshoppe PH on Shopee PH (also, not available in my usual large size anymore here, I'm sadt now)

This may be the most similar to this one and it's heavy discounted to just around a few Philippine pesos and cents to Php 400 (it's under Php 400 now):

Penshoppe Chic Fit Linen Trousers 2024 via Penshoppe PH on Zalora PH (it's only now available in small)

I'm honestly not a huge pants girl though I'd wear some capri pants/trousers now and then now but light weight pants/trousers just have a place in my closet now. I think I'd gravitate onto these than I would some jeans/denims I have been also getting into lately. Haha. Linen is definitely something super comfortable to wear any time of the day and even night here in the Philippines...along with 90-100% cotton anything.

Before finding the Penshoppe PH linen pants above, I had also been eyeing this pair in brown from OXGN on Shopee PH way before I flew into Metro Manila in May early this year. It was around sale time at the app so I kept close tabs on it until I could get it below Php 400 (8-9 USD converted) when the sale went into full effect on the orange shopping app. Upon its arrival to me at my grand uncle's, uncle's in Caloocan City, it did not disappoint except for the polyester layer in it that was in the length of a pair of shorts...I cut that off when I got home here in Cagayan de Oro City/CDO/CdeO so it's been comfier to wear around since.

I think this is the unisex version but here's one that's still available in navy blue and in just one size now, sadly, off of their official shop at the orange shopping app:

OXGN Linen Blend Trousers for Women (Deep Brown/Navy Blue) via OXGN PH on Shopee PH (it's only available in a small, navy blue shade now but it's still around the under Php 500 mark, under 10 USD converted)

It's not available elsewhere anymore though I haven't really checked their official store in Lazada yet. Lol.

This one's in chocolate or deep brown so I can definitely wear this out and about even when I'm on my period compared to the light-colored one from Penshoppe PH.

I wanted to just say I was eyeing this chambray pair of pants/trousers in dark denim, ankle length, from OXGN PH on the orange shopping app but it's only available in medium now so...I'm sadt now. I still have some others to wear outside of this anyway so it's not much of a loss. But anyway, in case OXGN Ph wants to restock this thing and then price it lower on a sale later...we'll see... I may have better luck finding it in store in Metro Manila on my birth week, we'll see...

Other things I got to bring home from there were a tote bag and a bra from SoEn PH from the massive SM Store in Mall of Asia/MOA, an umbrella from Watsons Ph/Pharmacy PH also in Mall of Asia/MOA, and an oversized men's tshirt and 2 handheld rechargeable electric fans from Surplus PH in SM City Makati.

The tote bag is for just because I was getting tired of the Kipling bag and I needed a reusable shopping bag at the same time, the umbrella is always a necessity, rain or shine, whenever you're here in the Philippines and by this, I mean, when you're anywhere here in the Philippines. I know the west hates umbrellas but us Asians love them so... ....heh. I probably got tired of my 2 or 3 white shirts I packed with me from here to Metro Manila so the peach ish men's tshirt from Surplus PH in SM City Marikina was a good addition to the ones I already have...for variety's sake. Oh and the handheld fans today are as much a necessity when you're around Metro Manila and going from one public transport to another...even when the trains there have AC. Hehe.

I also got a pair of earphones from Daiso in U.P. Town Center and a water bottle I left behind in the fam's new place I'll likely be using more of when I'm back there in 2-3 weeks from now.

Oh right, I also got the yellow/pale yellow tank top from Leisure Supply/Leisure PH on this trip but I already covered that one in the post before the one before this (if you get what I mean) so you can reference that one for this.

*****

I don't buy a lot of things new lately unless they're essentials and if they're not, then I just get 1 a piece so it's not like I spent most of the funds for the new place there on myself on my 1 week+ stay there in May early this year. I'd honestly rather thrift than buy things new but some curated vintage stuff like the ones at the pop up we were at in Makati City were pretty expensive (but they're of decent quality so one can't really complain if they got some things off of there anyways) and I didn't get a day in to just thrift at one place I'd been meaning to go to: Cubao, Quezon City, which is close to my fam's new place there in the metro so... I mostly stuck to the below Php 500 budget per clothing when buying new there at most. I can't imagine myself spending over Php 500 for clothes and even some shoes now.

If you're looking for deals this good on clothing, shoes, bags, etc, obviously, the SM Store and Surplus PH are the ways to go apart from sales at Penshoppe PH and OXGN PH (and even at Bench PH). Just go to the sales racks if you find yourself in the latter two...three stores at any SM City mall including the one at MOA. Fast fashion store clothing and stuff are severely overpriced everywhere here except maybe some good stuff now and then at Terranova PH (I like checking out the one here in Lim Ket Kai mall/center occasionally for some good stuff) so those mentioned above are your best friends everywhere in the Philippines when looking for non-thrifted, new, and comfy stuff wear out and about here. I'm currently a huge Surplus PH nut just because most of my favorites in my wardrobe lately are from there plus they're wayyyy cheaper than when in fast fashion stores here. Lol.

Oh and if you're shopping online for good deals, Shopee PH, the orange shopping app is your best bet for those...them. Their interface is easy to use plus you can stack up the coupons/vouchers there and get even better deals on sales days so yep, shop online for stuff you need there, too, when you can. They also carry household stuff, wares, and even some food, drinks/beverages and more so the next time you feel too lazy to go to the stores in Metro Manila due to traffic...you can just do your groceries there and have them dropped off at the drop off/pick up center nearest your place. I did this when I stayed in the fam's place and it's super convenient because my drop off/pick up center there is at a pawnshop in the same area. It's just a few steps away from the fam's new place so I got maybe 2 or 3 items from Shopee PH there.

For those shopping vintage at curated vintage instagram shops based in Metro Manila as I do occasionally here in CDO/CdeO, some of them do Shopee PH checkout so you can just get them sent to the drop off/pick up point in your area. There are some shops on ig now that don't use Shopee PH checkout so I'd just address my stuff to my uncle, grand uncle's if that's the case. Lol. My fam's place isn't the best one for door to door deliveries, to be honest. I find it inconvenient for this way of getting stuff you'd bought online delivered at your door step. It's either Shopee PH check out, meet up with the seller or bust for that one.

*****

Other places to check out when in the metro/National Capital Region/Metro Manila...?

I honestly did not go out much aside from the 2 days I went out with friends when at my fam's new place there so apart from Green Bar Ph, I have 0 knowledge of cool places to go there for vegans and non-vegans alike but...

....hmn...

For those who like Mexican food (like I do, I like cali-mex because it was one I had the most or what I usually have when at my mom's family's in SoCal), there's the fil-mex cantina in U.P. Town Center that one of my longest online bffs and I went to that Friday for dinner, Silantro. You can find them on instagram here:

Feel free to add this on your where to eat list when in the metro, Quezon City area to be exact.

*****

Something super random about me and my relationship with the vast metro up north (NCR/Metro Manila)...

While most Metro Manila/NCR vloggers I know and follow on and off would rather be in that one area in Taguig, the Bonifacio Global City/BGC, I grew up around Caloocan City and Quezon City between grades 1-3 in elementary school so I'll say I've always been more of a Quezon City girl at heart than a BGC girl. Most of my online (livejournal etc) friends are also in Quezon City. My fam's new place being in that area is just apt for me (and the rest of the fam) because we frequent Metro Manila for errands and more often and we hardly ever stay in and around BGC.

I don't know, I find BGC a snobby place to be so you'll never find me there. Ever. Except maybe this one trip I'll be in there with my aunt in my birth week next month. I'm showing her around the metro so this will definitely be the first and only time I'll be in the area and you'll hardly ever find me there again after this unless I have something really important to do there. Lol.

Definitely watch out for some new places by there I'll be in with my aunt in the next Metro Manila/NCR, greater Luzon island blog. I'll be playing tourist with her there in the 2-4 days we'll be there with an overseas trip between both. This one is both a leisure and a work trip for me, yep, as per usual. The whole family here is not yet done furnishing the new place and making it even more livable for others who may want to pay soon to stay there. We're working 'round the clock whenever we're there to get the place ready for occupancy, make it a cozy home for potential space renters and the likes since all of the family prefer Cagayan de Oro City to Metro Manila anyways. Lol.

The reason for the last part is because cost of living in Metro Manila is expensive and its a chaotic place to be compared to Cagayan de Oro City here down south, in Mindanao Island. The whole family is just in consensus the new place there is for passive income somehow.

Who's up for a packing post? I might do a packing post for the next blog so stay tuned here for that!

A travel capsule wardrobe post may follow soon after...

kind of needs but some, I can do without for 8.8 2024 sale from the orange shopping app (Shopee PH)

Before you continue on to the end of this entry:

*****As per usual, this post contains affiliate links and every click and purchase of the products suggested, recommended here supports this blog and the creator behind it. Feel free to check on the recc'd products on this blog and this entry when you can and thank you for always being here.*****

This is a very quick post because, well, 8.8 isn't going to last long, really but there'll always be another sale day in online and offline stores in the coming few months here in the Philippines so...yep. 9.9 is also coming next month, for one.

I very rarely buy anything unless it's thrifted stuff or something I direly need and I rarely buy stuff on sales days because I know some shops, everywhere online and offline by the by, will always have some sales here and there sans online and offline shops-wide sales days.

But anyway, here are some things I have in mind I'm checking out of my orange app, Shopee PH shopping cart this 8.8 (August 8) sale day:

Thread Projects' (on Shopee PH) Passport Holder Version 2.0 Travel Organizer Vanity Make Up Pouch Passbook Holder

(Ph, screen captured from Thread Projects' on Shopee PH)

I'm also contemplating buying some things, bags here for the beach and a music event I'll be going to in October, the month after next (my birth month) month, but I've decided I'll get those when I'm in Metro Manila because I'll be using those there more anyways.

Yeah, I'm worried about my travel documents lately getting worried as they're only in a nylon bag yet (from Kipling) so I've settled I'm getting this in cream on today's sale day on the orange shopping app. Php 144 isn't bad for one of these I could probably get 2, I don't know yet.

(photos screen captured, grabbed from Poperi PH on Shopee PH)

I like randomly browsing Shopee PH for new to me local brands and this made it to my radar there some time ago, maybe 2 days ago? As someone who keeps losing my Human Heart Nature lipbalms within the depths of my bags and with all the transferring of all my stuff fro the day from one bag to another, I NEED this. I need them in multiples, I'm contemplating getting about 4 of them, 2 in each shades.

What I love about these lip balms is they have spf in them and rarely do lipbalms have this here. My Human Heart Nature ones certainly do not have spf...I think, anyways. The only other one I can think of that has spf is BLK Cosmetics' on Shopee PH BLK Cosmetics fresh lip quench spf 25 PA++ in rose which I got yesterday in store in Ayala Centrio here in my city. They have a stall there near the across NMMC/Provincial Hospital mall entrance and exit. I paid the full Php 399 price for it yesterday in store and I'm beating myself up over that because I could've gotten it for lower than that yesternight around 12 midnight onwards during the start of the 8.8 sale at the orange shopping app for waaayyy less than that. My reason for getting it in store, however, is something like I REALLY needed a lip balm stat because my Human Heart Nature ones I've been using for longer were missing in action in my bag/s. Lol. Anyway, since I've spent for this one, I'll be keeping this in my every day to-go cosmetics bag and using it well to justify the Php 399 I spent for it yesterday.

Side note: I looovee BLK Cosmetics. It's just that some of the everyday use ones (like sunscreen, etc) I like from them, I can find cheaper elsewhere so I only buy a few things there like mostly eye makeup stuff: mascara, eyeliner...this is when I'm not using other brands' like one I like from Japan and maybe some korean brand I've heard people rave about online, on social networking sites etc.

Anyway, Poperi PH has other interesting fun stuff on their orange shopping app, Shopee PH page.

Here are some other things in my cart from this shop:

I actually am rekindling my love for teddy bears. I had a collection of these growing up, most being gifted to me I don't know where they went now and yep, you can bet I'm getting 2-3 of these today as they're only 35 Php a piece. Less than 1 USD converted, literally just cents in USD a piece.

I keep losing my hair ties, I need this in two or three pieces, multiples. It's only 12 Php a piece too! Literally just some cents in USD when converted.

You can get these in a bundle with the lipbalm/s here at Php 299 (around USD 5.something converted) here (if you don't feel like buying them separately and maybe can be good for gifting these to boxes/bundles to girl friends and more):

(Photo screen captured, grabbed, nabbed from Poperi PH on Shopee PH)

You can even get this as a gift to yourself
like, not just on valentines' day but any day of the year and if no one else is there to get this, these for you, self love, yes~

Anyway, that's it for today. I'll run some errands nearby or so if I'm going to catch up today's sales on the orange shopping app. Until next time!

I still owe a lot of stuff on this blog to its audience/people. I assure you I'm working rn on a lot of the catch up blogging here and editing some that may be hard to read (even for me, yep) ones.

Update, as of near 7:00 p.m. tonight, I just got the passport/documents and some cosmetic holder instead. Just one piece of it, anyway.

A lot of things changed over the pandemic lockdowns. New business sprung up in our neighborhood alone, new brands are also up...and a whole lot more. Now, I may not be able to travel yet to other places (except on November 7 and 8, soon!) but there's plenty here in the city, Cagayan de Oro City, I was born and raised in to check out and play local tourist in somehow while I'm still here.

Anyone that followed this blog from day 1---even when this was still on LiveJournal---know its owner (me...?) is hugely into supporting local brands other than local homegrown tea cafes or houses (Chingkeetea...and I swear I working on the 2nd part for the last one. It's just sitting in my drafts yet but it'll be ready to go live here soon as I've done some tweaking of it) to name a few. This blog has not changed and it never will.

Today, we'll be putting a local beauty or cosmetics brand that my bff, Michi, has gotten me into via a mini mall in Pabayo-Hayes Sts. here, Zea Picks. The mini mall has just opened and CDO locals should check their offerings out. They have a ton of fun stuff for girls who love accessories, make-up, fragrances, and more. Clothes, too. They carry clothes from the big Chinese brand, Shein. Those who aren't too into shopping for clothes on their site or app can just get Shein clothing and accessories in store at Zea Picks mini mall instead.

Side note: I'm not into Shein. Something about how they do business puts me off. I don't have it in me to support anything of theirs, to be honest, so... You won't see me buying Shein stuff any time soon. Zalora Philippines is still my shopping online mecca go-to along with local brands on Lazada and Shopee PH. Shop local, folks! Our local sellers and makers deserve our money, time, support, and more. Shein is pretty shady and screams mega CAPITALIST!! to me but of course, it's a China/PRC thing to be just that when it comes to businesses like this.

Zea Picks mini mall's floor space is tiny. It's about the size of probably just one tiny store space in Ayala Centrio mall like N.Cat's. But even if it's the case, they carry a lot of fun stuff from local sellers and makers here in Cagayan de Oro City and beyond. One such brand they carry that I'm going to talk about in this blog entry is Positive Kalyca or PK! They're available on Shopee PH on the second link.

I have been downsizing the contents of my makeup bag to-go and I use multi-use tints more than anything else (if you followed my skin care and beauty posts here, you'd know) so it's only right I get into this local brand. I'm not entirely sure of the history of this brand. I think the owner is from the city I attended graduate school in Literary Studies in, Dumaguete City, and I suspect she may even be from the same university I was in at the time, Silliman University. It's just my best guess from what I could gather from the brand's instagram, Positive Kalyca (PK) page. I'm not entirely sure if the owner's a born and raised kagay-anon like me or a transplant to here from somewhere else. I might have met her a few times, though, or just once at a bazaar that ran from September 16-ish or 15 to 18 just recently in Lim Ketkai Center's rotunda (the middle part of the mall) here. I checked that bazaar out to see what I could get for friends and walked out with about two multi-use tints that are pretty new to the line or brand and 1 highlighter I've been using more of lately. I got into Positive Kalyca or PK through bff Michi and her inviting me to check their stuff out on Zea Picks mini mall some three weeks to a month ago and I've been hooked since. At least I don't have to go far and spend so much on shipping fees now just to get makeup and skincare stuff because we have this among others now here.

Here are some things from this brand that I'm into lately:

Their PK lip oil luster in Latte! The bff wanted to try the Dalgona one but I noticed it didn't really ink or stain much so Latte it was for the two of us. We got 2 of these, one for each of us, at the regular price of 1 that's 150 Php (roughly 3 USD when converted) during the 9.9 (September 9) sale at Zea Picks mini mall! It was such a good, GOOD deal, of course!

Rather than using the PK lip oil luster in Latte on the lips as it should be, I'm using this one for contouring. Hah. I'm not really into lip products, to be honest, but somehow, most I find in stores like this are for the lips and most people I love (my extended family and some friends) abroad just looovvvee sending me lip stuff to try and make good use of. (I need more face makeup and skin care, please, more than lip stuff...and thanks.) I'm normally more of a tinted lip balm or just lip pencil/crayon girl. I'm not a huge fan of heavy makeup, colors on the lips on most days but I understand this is something most women are into because it's the easiest to apply when in a hurry to go out and with very little time to put color into their faces. Using the PK lip oil luster in Latte as a contour is just so me, though, I think?

Unfortunately, this is not available on their PK Shopee PH page. You can check out their Instagram and Facebook pages, though, if you're interested on or curious about where to get Positive Kalyca (PK) stuff around here in CDO and beyond.

to check out:

These two PK highlighters at 69 Php a pop (a piece) in a lighter and darker shade I constantly have in my makeup bag to-go now. I use the darker shade as both a contour and a highlighter when I get lazy with applying makeup. The one in the lighter shade, for me, is something I use with the summer tint (it's about orangey but I like it sooo much!) from another local brand I have started liking over this year's Higala-ay Cagayan de Oro City fiesta, Oh My Organic (OMO). I'll blog about this brand some other time, probably once I've tried their other tints. I wish they would add more colors to this one, though, soon. I'm due to check out more multi-use tints and stuff from them soon, too, anyway. Meanwhile, you can check out some Oh My Organic (OMO) products on Woodcrafts and All Good Stuff on here on Shopee PH.

These two on the photo above may be newer shades you can get in store at Zea Picks mini mall or wherever they have displays in the malls here in CDO or anywhere else they are at in Dumaguete City and more. Some older ones like the PK shimmer highlighter is on Shopee PH. The PK radiance highlighter is there, too. I'm somewhat curious about these two myself so I may or may not check them out and get them at Zea Picks mini mall the soonest when I have the chance to go there again for stuff.

My latest buy from Positive Kalyca (PK) is the premium chili tint in Anaheim. It's not available on the Shopee site but I found this one---possibly newly launched---at the bazaar back around September 17 (my personal...I mean, birthday) at the middle of Lim Ketkai Center, ground floor. It's only 99 Php per tube, too!

I didn't do a lot of self-treating while I was at the said bazaar that day but I did get stuff for some good friends so there's that. I treated myself to some food instead before going home so that's how my personal day, birthday went this year. It was alright.

Here're how their display booth or table at the bazaar I went to looked like:

They also sold some stickers, yes, and I got 3 of these since I do like me some stickers and other stationeries myself. I'm as much a paper, stationery addict as I am into good, affordable, and very accessible makeup and skincare. Haha.

What made me curious about PK's Premium chili tint in Anaheim is its pigmentation and shade. It seems to be a cross of nude and red for me. Nude red? Red nude? I don't know. I'm not a fan of red and I rarely use anything red on the lips, the cheeks, and the eyelids but this shade of red that's almost nude-ish is definitely up my alley as a fan of nudes, instead! Seriously. Nudes rule over reds although the latter can be sexy on anyone...women, and more.

I have yet to open and try this one but since I'm not done with my tube of the PK lip oil luster in Latte and the highlighters yet (I got an additional darker shade of the highlighter in the second photo above from this bazaar, btw) and I still have plenty of reds for the lips and more in my makeup bag to-go and others from family, loved ones abroad... It's going to take a while before I can open this new one I got from the Lim Ketkai Center, center bazaar back in September 17. Yes, I wrote/mentioned center twice. Haha. I felt like I just had to.

....the local makeup hoarder that I'm becoming lately, however, I'm thinking about getting another tube of this I can take to wherever I'm going on November 7 with me rn. I hope Zea Picks mini mall carries this one there now, too.

It's about...less than 3 months to December 2022 and there are bound to be more bazaars in the malls here and possibly everywhere in the Philippines were I (we) am (are)  to come so do check those out if you'd like to look into local offerings here and there like this one, Positive Kalyca (PK). As for those like me who are in Cagayan de Oro City here, you can check out Zea Picks mini mall for this brand or makeup line and more if you're not into big malls like I am. Crowds make me anxious these days especially with Miss Rona still around and coughing up newer variants that seem to be deadlier than the ones before them. I promise their products won't break your bank, deplete your savings, and you also get to support local small business at the same time by checking their stuff out there.

And here's how Positive Kalyca (PK) stuff look on yours truly...me.

I use a combination of makeup lines/brands here from mostly local and it looks like the colors are barely even there so I'm not entirely sure if I have been doing my almost daily makeup right on this one. I lately use a combination of the multi-use tint in Summer from Oh My Organic, Human Heart Nature's Perfect Flush lip and cheek cream tint in Rosy (my personal favorite from their makeup line, of course! Right up there with the tinted lip balm in rosewood now. It's also got new packaging and a new name, Blush & Bloom, that's really cute! very feminine and nice!), and highlighters and the lip oil luster in Latte from Positive Kalyca (PK).

Almost bare-looking here aside, I'm all for and am quite obsessed with how light multi-use tints are and easily washable they are. You can definitely retouch them very easily when you're out but at the same time, it saves you the trouble of using micellar waters or makeup removers when you're at home from engagements, the office, or a day or night out with the girls and more. These things may not be very pigmented enough to cover up and conceal some skin imperfections here and there but that's exactly why we try to be more religious (I do but I keep failing anyhow) with skin care and maybe the occasional trip to the dermatologist if we can afford it or if this is very easily accessible to us.

I'm not entirely fond of having to lug around with me a face full of heavy makeup so this is the bestest thing for me, barely-there make-up. Multi-use tints. All the fun stuff in varied liquid and powdery consistencies and more to apply to the face for quick coloring! It's also, I think, the best for those who want some color while at the beach or the pool. They're very islander girly things to have for everywhere and yep, very much a must have for 365 days of summer in a tropical country like our (my) own Philippines!

Nude, barely there face colors? Locally (and in this case, very, veeerrry locally made) made cosmetics/makeup? Count me in! Expect me to be behind Positive Kalyca (PK) all the way from now on :) I'm adding it to my list of favorite local cosmetics, makeup, and skin care brands right up there with Human Heart Nature and the others I've featured on and off here.

Right up next after this post will be on Oh My Organic's tints I have yet to try out of their Summer one that I like a lot. I just need some more research on this and try out the other tints outside of Summer. It would be awesome if they put out more shades of their tints aside from the four seasons: summer, spring, fall, and winter...or, I think, it was sultry? and be around the same as how many Colourette PH has put out of their signature Colourtints because I would be so down to these very local lines/brands having wider ranges of multi-use tints. For Colourette PH, if you are here in Philippines as I am, feel free to shop their fun stuff on the Colourette PH Lazada flagshi store here.

I'm currently thinking about Colourette PH's nude Colourtints (and there are a lot of this. seriously. it's Colourette PH!) and Coloursnaps in Beachy and Waves. Both are only 279 Php a piece on their official site's shop, btw. And yes, I have a thing for summery stuff, yes. You can very easily tell with how I got easily tempted to get Oh My Organic's summer multi-use tint when I found it in the display they had on the ground floor of Ayala Centrio mall when we scoped this one out during the Higala-ay fiesta this year. Just very recently, actually. I'm just holding off on Colourette Ph purchases because I still have a lot of other more local to here in Cagayan de Oro City and the bisaya/cebuano region in general's makeup, cosmetics purchases to finish. Haha. Hah. These purchases will just end up cluttering my room more, my vanity, actually, and I may end up having to get or buy and use more makeup bags I can alternate for trips out here and there and I don't really want that. I'll try Colourette PH stuff some other time. Possibly when I've finished all the others I have rn.

Colourette PH had a buy 2 for the price of 1 promo on Colourtints some time around October 10 (the 10.10 sale) but I didn't bite because I still had stuff from Positive Kalyca (PK), Oh My Organic (OMO), and Dear Self Beauty (DSF) so yep, I'm tabling trying stuff from this brand/makeup line out until later. I definitely know the things I want and need from Colourette PH as I do with BLK's new fun stuff so you can bet I'll stock up on stuff from them sooner or later and I'll be reviewing those here, too. Kind of. I didn't really get the hype of Colourette PH stuff until I read tweets from its CEO and founder and found her really likeable on twitter, social media in general so yes, this brand of makeup/beauty products have my (eternal) support, too! Colourette PH, too,  hits all my love and obsession with nude shades. Seriously. I'm officially a stan...fan.

I'm also only talking about multi-use tints in this post because for these brands' skincare stuff...I still am more into Human Heart Nature's and they kind of overlap so I don't really bother mentioning or even checking those out as much as I do their makeup lines or products. It's kind of overkill if I also blog on that in a makeup or beauty post like this. Plus, I also have different preferences when it comes to skin care. My beauty and makeup go-to brands or lines are totally different from my go-to skin care ones. That's just how I roll in real life. Yes.

Here's to more skincare, beauty, cosmetics, and makeup posts in 2022! Expect more to come in 2023, of course. Heh.
